FHR stands with Yasmin Sooka
The Foundation for Human Rights (FHR) is extremely concerned with the recent attacks targeting Ms Yasmin Sooka by the Sri Lanka Government. Yasmin has been threatened by the head of Sri Lankan intelligence, Major General Suresh Sallay, with a law suit accusing her of conspiracy against the state in response to her work on behalf of victims of gross human rights violations in Sri Lanka. The FHR stands with Yasmin Sooka, who for almost twenty years was our Executive Director and is a globally renowned human rights expert and activist in South Africa and beyond. The accusations against her are unfounded and in violation of international principles.
More than 50 human rights organisations and 150 prominent individuals have signed the letter in support of Ms Yasmin Sooka and engaged in the campaign “We stand with Yasmin”. To view the letter and information about the campaign click here .
